Membership is open to anyone provided they pass all police checks (membership is subject to the home office guidelines) New members have to serve at least a six month probationary period, where they must prove they understand and follow the safety standards required for safe shooting. Bedford Rifle Club has a separate membership for those who shoot .22 and Air weapons, with discounted rate for juniors. Applications for a Firearms Certificate Need to be a full member of a shooting club Police will run checks including criminal records/DVLA/Domestic/WOA/Medical records/and Data Bases. Applicants will be visited by firearms officers to check character and security of firearms Applicants must have two references including one firearms certificate holder and one professional not associated with shooting. Those shooting Air Weapons do not need a firearms certificate
